    After hearing about the break in's this week, Managing Director, Richard South of South Electrical based at Harworth, has kindly donated some floodlights to help deter any unwanted guests at the school.

    It is with great sadness that we have to confirm that within one week we have been broken in to twice! On each occasion the building has suffered considerable damage and of course it has caused a lot of upset.

    We thank all our parents who have offered help, given kind words of support and shown patience while we have needed to get repairs arranged.

    Here are some pictures from the Roscars tonight! Well done to James and Teegan in foundation who were shortlisted for their senses poems. Penguins class were shortlisted for their Jack and the beanstalk! Also shortlisted was Sienna's poem about the Queen! Georgia and Darcey won the Ks1 poetry category with their riddle about the queen. Also Lions class won the Ks1 fiction category with The Queen's Knickers!

    All sorts of weird, creepy and wondrous creatures came to visit our reception children today, care of Sam's Safari's!

    The children were told where the animals orginate from, what they like to eat and what makes each of them unique, including those with lots and lots and lots of legs!!! Take a look at some pictures of the children bravely handling them!

  • Yorkshire Wildlife Park

    Our year 1 children went to visit Doncaster's Yorkshire Wildlife Park. The weather stayed fine and they were all able to tour the park, come up close to the animals and find out about each creature that lived there during the classroom activities.

  • Queen's Birthday Lunch

    To celebrate the Queen's 90th Birthday, children of Grange Lane Infant Academy have been busy learning all about Queen Elizabeth, her family and her crown jewels.

    In fact, Miss Braim's class had an intruder who stole the crown jewels! It was up to the year 2 children to solve various clues using their maths skills and find out where they had gone! Lucky for us they worked out who the culprit was just in time for the street party.

  • Building Work

    30th May 2016

    Building work for the new nursery provision starts this week and will continue for the next 12 weeks.

    Letters have been sent out to the whole school about which classes are affected by the build due to classroom re-location. We aim to keep any disruption within school to a minimum during this last half term. May we ask that all parents, visitors and pupils keep clear of the building site and follow any safety signs and guidance that maybe displayed during this time.

  • Teachers V's Legends Non-Uniform Fund Raiser

    It's getting closer to the day when Mr Jones and the teachers take on ex-football legends at the Keepmoat Stadium to help raise funds for an amazing charity Eve Merton Trust (an organisation that supports local people and families coping with terminal cancer).

    To help towards the fund raising Mr Jones held a special non-uniform day on Friday with lots of sporty activities to be a part of. One of them was an amazing football game, donated by Mini Kicks. You could test your football skills by aiming for the go

  • Fun into Food

    A big thank you to Chartwells our school meal provider for coming into the academy and working with Reception, year 1 and year 2 about how to put fun into food!

    Each class discussed the different types of foods that Tim was going to cook with, where they came from and how they could measure that they were getting a portion of one of their 5 a day!

    Tim then gave a wok cookery demonstration and helped the children learn about different cooking methods such as steaming and frying.

  • A sandwich for Tesco

    After our trip to Tesco's we received a letter asking us to design a healthy sandwich!

    We had to draw it, list the ingredients and write the instructions. Then we made our sandwiches and ate them to check they were good enough for Tesco's customers!

  • Fruit Kebabs

    After their trip to Tesco, our reception children have been really busy finding more information out about healthy foods. Today they have been making kebabs with different types of fruit. As they did this they also discussed where the fruit would have grown and the different words they could use to describe them in looks, taste, texture and smell.

    We extend a huge thank you to the Families Information Services, the health visitors and the children's services team for putting on the Let's Get Ready for School event here at Grange Lane Infant Academy.

    The event was very informative for families who have young children who are almost ready for starting school.   • Easter Workshop

    18th March 2016

    Children who gained 100% attendance for the term were invited with their parents or carers to a special Easter workshop on Friday as an extra treat from Doncaster's Family Learning services.

    The children were very good at making rabbits which were disappearing down their burrows, which we all quickly re-named Bunny Bottoms!

  • 100% Attendance

    Well done to all 34 children who attended school everyday for the whole of the Spring Term!

    We celebrated in our assembly by awarding these children with attendance certificates, an Easter egg and swimming voucher.

    Some of these children were our youngest, our nursery pupils! Amazing - well done everyone!

    Doncaster Council like to celebrate great attendance also, so we have sent details to Sam and Sammie!
