Little Grangers Admissions

Our 2 year old provision is for both funded and non-funded pupils and offers both sessional and flexible provision places.

Funded Places: 

The Government gives local authorities funding to provide a free part time childcare / early education place for all 3 and 4 year olds.  A free place is also available for 2 year olds whose parent / carer is in receipt of one of the following:   

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Support through part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act
  • Have an annual household income under £16,190 and claim Child Tax Credit and / or Working Tax Credit
  • Guaranteed Element of State Pension Credit
  • The Working Tax Credit 4-week run on (the payment you get when you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit)
  • Universal Credit

Children are also entitled to a place if: 

  • Your child is looked after by the local council
  • Your child has a current statement of special educational needs (SEN) or an education, health and care plan
  • Your family is in receipt of Disability Living Allowance for the child
  • A child who has left care through special guardianship order, child arrangement order or adoption order  

There are three ways you can apply: 

  1. Contact the Families Information Service, telephone: 01302 862136 / 862132. The parent / carer will be asked for their surname, date of birth and National Insurance number or a National Asylum Support Service (NASS) reference number (if applicable).  The parent/carer will be told straight away if their child is eligible.
  2. Complete an application form online at www.doncasterchildrenandfamilies.info/2yr.htm. The information will be processed and the Families Information Service will telephone the parent/carer to inform them if the child is eligible.
  3. Complete a paper application form which is inside an A5 leaflet and return to the address on the form.  Paper application forms can be found at: schools, children’s centres, childcare providers and through health visitors.

For Grange Lane Infant Academy to allocate a funded place for your child, we would need to see confirmation of your eligibility. This will be either in the form of a letter or a ‘golden ticket’ issued by Doncaster Council. 

Non-Funded Places: 

For parents who wish to book an early education place in Little Grangers, we would require you to complete one of our Little Grangers booking forms which outlines the terms and conditions of the provision, including invoice and payment requirements. Your child’s place will commence after payment has been made and all admission documents completed.

Allocation of funded and non funded places depends on current admission numbers and vacant places. 

Nursery Admissions

Places are offered by the LA on behalf of the school. Parents should initially apply for their child to be admitted in the September following their third birthday. Subject to availability, successful applicants will be eligible for admission during the term following their third birthday. Pupils are entitled to 15 hours free provision per week for 38 weeks.

If there are places available, children may be admitted early –

  • Children born in the Autumn Term may be able to start in the Spring term
  • Children born in the Spring Term may be able to start in the Summer term

In the event of oversubscription, places are awarded according to the following criteria:

  • Looked After Children or Previously Looked after children
  • Children resident in the school catchment area
  • If there are more children than places available, places will be determined by reference to birth, eldest first

If a parent is refused admission, the child’s name will be placed on a waiting list for the preferred nursery.

Our nursery supports families through home visits, a nursery meeting and a “stay and play “session-all of which offer the opportunity for families to share information, for nursery staff to get to know both children and parents/carers and for the nursery staff to prepare for the new nursery children and to put necessary measures in place to support both children and their families

Reception Admissions

Places are offered by the LA on behalf of the school. Parents should initially apply for their child to be admitted in the September following their fourth birthday. The admission number for the school is 60.

Preferences for the school will be sorted based upon the following criteria-

  • Looked After Children or Previously Looked after children
  • Children resident in the school catchment area
  • Siblings-other members of the same family unit within the school or at Pheasant Bank
  • Proximity

Transition to school is extensive: those children attending our nursery visit school regularly in the summer term attending assemblies and experiencing playtime. Moreover, there is a meeting for parents. For those children from other school nurseries or private settings, we visit the setting and offer a morning for parents and children to become familiar with the school and the practitioners. All children then come together on transition day and share a school meal with their parents/carers.
