Careers Week – Farmer

Farmer Andy came to visit with his tractor from Boston Park Farm, along with helping look after all the animals at the farm park, last night he was working until 10pm planting crops.

The children really enjoyed climbing aboard the tractor. They commented on how smaller they were than the tyres, how high the seat was inside and all the equipment used to do the work of a farmer.

Q. How much do farmers get paid?

A. Not enough for all the long hours we do and working every day.

Q. Why are there lots of lights?

A. Because sometimes we work in the fields at night and also we drive on the roads.

Q.How fast can a tractor go?

A.About 24 miles an hour.

Q. Why are the tyres different sizes?

A. So  that the tractor doesn’t get stuck in the mud in the fields.

The children also noticed weights on the front and these are to stop the tractor from tipping backwards when they have heavy machinery on the back.
